There are seven monks who live at this ecumenical theosophical monastery along with a large community that has been using the property for meditation retreats, sweat lodges, activist meetings, world music festivals, etc for the last three decades. Join us in restoring this area so that we may all enjoy it again!

This from Evonne in L.A.-

Hi Burners!  Planning a Burners without Borders trip to Madre Grande....you are welcome to come down when you are free.

Here are some photos of the site  after the fire http://madregrande.org/Fire

Right now we're looking for:

  • a handful of tools to assemble and erect a yurt this weekend (yurt cover material??)
  • pipes and plumbing supplies along with low-flow shower heads
  • a composting toilet to get a new shower house and bathroom built for the community
  • cinderblock and concrete to build new workshop and basic structures

I have stayed in touch with Tracey at MG thru Tribe....last weekend they erected a few bjurts there with Bender and they are hoping that the local authorities are coming by soon to do a fire cleanup and haul out the burnt metal bits.

For now she says it's a great time to visit and camp, but expect very rustic Leave No Trace; BYO Water and camping toilets.  Bring seeds and healthy green love!

There's no water or bathrooms functioning on site; the portos must be a part of that burnt metal to be hauled away.  Do we know anyone in LA who can donate a porto or composting toilet that we can build a structure for?

FYI: the Fuente Eterno ninjas are also heading back down to Mexico to rebuild the water system post-burn at Canyon de Guadelupe.  They will need supplies and more volunteers down the line to rebuild structures, etc before their March event.  fuenteeterno.com
