BWB Presents: BRING IT!!!
Bring what?
Yourself, your friends and family as well as your gifts and talents to your local community's "Bring It!!!" event.
Regional groups around the world will be gathering for a day of giving back to an area in their local communities that could use some TLC. This is going to be a lot of fun! Keep reading to find out more about how you can participate in this momentous solstice event!
This is a great way to organize your community around an inspiring, fun, public service project in your area.
For the past three years, regional groups all over the world have been bringin' it and making a difference by taking initiative and volunteering their efforts in BWB's Cinco de Playa Clean Up Day. This year, volunteers removed over 2 tons of debris from the parks and beaches across the world and had fun doing it! But the impact goes beyond just this one day. After these events, people inevitably want to do more and organize ongoing projects with their community that continue to make a huge impact.
Photo left: Cinco de Playa 2008-Oregon BWB brought the fun with a beach burn after the clean up.
BRING IT!!! is one more way in which we can bring the values and the ethos from the Burning Man event to our every day lives and apply them in meaningful ways that affect the larger world.

CHICAGO BWB BRINGS IT TO ROOFTOP GARDENS
WHEN: 10am - 1pm
WHERE: 2042 W. 21st Street (above the top floor)
WHAT: The Chicago community is using the day to bring together people who are building rooftop gardens in the city. The site will be the roof of the Electric Company, a building owned and animated by burners. They received a grant from the City of Chicago, and are well on their way to a full Green Roof (with easy viewing from the elevated train platform). Other grant recipients around Chicago have actually had to give their grants back because they couldn't accomplish their goals. The "Bring It" gathering's intention is to create community with a "barn raising" spirit to assist each other (and others) with skills, energy, and resources. Lunch will be served, and future lunches will be planted. We are working with Chicago's Department of Environment and Department of Water Management on the guest list.

WHEN: Saturday, June 22 at noon
WHAT: Jimbo's
is one of a few Miami originals. The surrounding beach and park are in
need of a long over due clean up. This is a great way for burners to be
active in the community and an opportunity for like minded and
responsible individuals to join our group. We plan to clean a section
of beach in front of Jimbo's Restaurant on Virginia Key. You need not
be a burner to partake in this event.
Don't forget to bring some gloves and a rake.
WHERE: At the end of Duck Road on Virginia Key: Take
the Rickenbacker Causeway to Virginia Key. Take the first left after the
light at Mast Academy, then follow the road northeast, staying to the
right at the first fork in the road. When you come to the end of the
road, stay to the left. You will see the water treatment plant -- then
turn to the right (north) and look for the driveway just ahead on the
right.

Summer Solstice! Let's go to the beach and play with some fire! While we're there, let's do a little beach cleanup beforehand. Gibralter seems to be one of the least well-maintained beaches as far as trash goes and it's also my favorite, so let's give it some TLC. Cleanup from roughly 5-6pm and bonfire from 6pm-the last water taxi leaves!
(Put the water taxi # in yr cell phone! It is 416-203-8294 -- last ferry from Centre is at 11:45pm and last ferry from Hanlan's is at 10:30pm.)
You needn't be a Burner (border-less or otherwise) to join in!

If you don't see your town listed here, please consider hosting your own local BRING IT!!! event. It's easy.
1. Find an area in your community that has been
neglected and could use some love. Cleaning up a
park is a great way to start. You may also consider:
painting a mural, park benches or beautifying a
public space with a garden. The possibilities are
endless.
2. Set a time and place for people to meet and get the
word out to your network.
3. Send your announcement to
carmen@burnerswithoutborders.org
and it will be posted on the BWB website as well as
any available regional lists in your area.
And you can use BRING IT!!! as a tool year round to organize your community around projects that matter to you.
